SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE: A WAR ON CHRISTMAS AND OTHER MISGUIDED NOTIONS

September 20, 2012

Melanie Springer Mock, the author, tries to advocate that the state or government shouldn’t participate in religious activities. The Western culture invented the state/church separation because they wanted faith and politics to be distinct and have no influence on each other. Although the first Amendment doesn’t specify whether governments displays of religious symbols violate the church/state separation but then she uses pathological claims to direct her point ” do Christians really need baby Jesus on the courthouse steps to remind them of his birth?”

“If Christians were a minority faith, I imagine they would not wish to be evangelized by those in the majority, be they Muslims pr Jews or Hare Krishna.”  this statement summarizes her stance. state and government represents the country and the country is an amalgamation of diverse religion which needs to be respected and protected.
